District 4
October 2006 Minutes
DCM Bill B. opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with the Serenity Prayer. There were 16 people in attendance. Welcome to Mac A., GSR for the North Santiam Group in Stayton. The Service Concepts of World Service and the GSR Statement were also read. The agenda was approved.
Hal E. and Bob, respectively Area Archivist and Alternate Archivist were in attendance and gave information on collecting archive material for submission to the District and Area. Each AA group should have an Archivist who is in charge of recording group history.
Secretary’s Report: the minutes from September 2006 were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Fred D. reported that the combined balances from checking and savings totaled $3, 480.00 less the prudent reserve of $2, 725.00 for a total of $755.10 in unassigned funds. Some of these unassigned funds will be used for the upcoming assembly. Fred also gave thanks to Monica W. for her work on Thank-You notes to individual groups for their donations to District.
Committee Reports:
Archives: Billy M. has been to 2 groups outside of Salem. At this time, 2 outside groups and 3 from within Salem have turned in their group history forms. Billy has purchased supplies and will be using recycled binders for Archives. Our prayers are with Billy as he heads for Ireland this Saturday.
CPC: Keary reported on the success of the Recovery Fair at Bush Park on September 16th. He feels that A.A. was able to reach some people and that a change of location for next year may be advisable.
PI: BJ B. shared a Certificate of Appreciation received from the Department of Human Services for A.A.’s participation in the Recovery Fair. A Speaker Training Session will be held at BJ’s home on Sunday, October 15th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Intergroup Liaison: WVI is putting together its panel for the upcoming Service Workshop. WVI also contributed $100 to District to pay for the rental of Morningside Church for the Workshop.
H & I: Trevor shared a financial report for monies spent and budgeted for the next few months. He is optimistic about the H & I Committee. A request was made to go to our groups and ask for monthly contributions. The immediate goal is to buy Big Books for the Bridgeway participants.
Alternate DCM: Fred: Fred has visited Mt. Angel, Stayton, and Dallas groups. Paula has visited the Unity and Good to Be Here groups. Paula gave highlights from the recent Assembly and will have notes for all at the next meeting.
DCM: Bill B. visited a Dallas Speaker meeting and promised that District will send copies of the monthly minutes each month to that group.
Old Business:
October 21st Service Workshop: Paula reported that the next Workshop Committee meeting will take place on October 19th at Central Office at 7:00 p.m.
Future Workshops: suggestions: Traditions, Steps, GSR School, Singleness of Purpose, Self Support.
Assembly Funding: A motions was made and passed to allow a grant form of funding for District representatives at Assemblies.
Tabled: GrapeVine Representative needed. Murray expressed interest in the position and the announcement will go out to groups. Those interested should attend next month’s meeting.
New Business:
The District announced the need for a GSR. Tammy A. was nominated to fill that need.
Time ran out; the meeting was closed with the Responsibility Pledge at 8:45 p.m.
